Green Moray

Gymnothorax funebris –  The moray is actually brown, but is a covered in a mucus that gives it the greenish tint.

Identifiers: Green to brown. Dorsal fin begins just behind the head.

Habitat: Western Atlantic from New Jersey to Brazil. Solitary bottom dweller in reefs, rocky shorelines and mangroves.

Average Lifespan: Unknown

Size: Up to 8 ft (2.44 m)

Weight: Up to 65 lbs (29.5 kg)

Food: Fish, squid, octopus, crabs and sometimes other eels. Nocturnal hunter. Since they have poor eyesight, they use their excellent sense of smell to find their prey.
