Identifiers: Silvery fish with upturned mouths. Long filament tails at the base of the dorsal fin. Seen in groups or solitary.
Habitat: Bays and mangroves. Can travel up rivers. Can be found on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

Food: As juveniles, they eat zooplankton. As adults, they are carnivorous, feeding on fish such as needlefish, mullets, shrimp, sardines, and crabs.
