Habitat: Found inshore regions such as flats, channels, sandy areas, reefs, wrecks. Western Atlantic from Maine to Brazil. Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

Food: Mostly crustaceans and mollusks, but will eat insects, crabs, worms and other small animals. They use their mouth to dig of sand to find their prey.
